C-ONE (CENTER ON NON-PROFIT EFFECTIVENESS)
C-One is dedicated to strengthening the non-profit sector in
Miami-Dade County by building the management capacity of non-profit
organizations and helping them effectively achieve their missions. To
that end, C-One operates a walk-in resource center complete
with a helpful, knowledgeable staff; a library of non-profit
management books, videos and other print resources; management
document samples and templates; public computers and online
information; a national grant research database; a database
of South Florida consultants; low-cost consulting workshops;
a variety of learning and networking activities and more! The
resource center is open to all non-profits regardless of the
type of service they provide, size, or funding affiliations.

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI CENTER FOR NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT
The purpose of the Center is tri-fold: to
ensure the overall financial stability of nonprofit organizations
in South Florida; to strengthen their capability to manage for
results; and to enhance their boards’ capacity to develop
and maintain the mission of their organization. To that
end, the Center offers salient workshops during the fall, winter
and spring of each year. A networking luncheon on
June 16, 2006, on the topic of The Internet as a Resource will

FIRST BOOK OFFERS FREE BOOKS FOR DISTRIBUTION TO CHILDREN IN
LOW-INCOME FAMILIES
First Book is a national nonprofit organization with a simple
mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity
to read and own their first new books. The primary goal of First
Book is to work with existing literacy programs to distribute
new books to children who, for economic reasons, have little
or no access to books. Thanks to generous donations from
its publishing partners, the First Book National Book Bank reaches
out to programs in every corner of the country, serving national
and local nonprofit organizations and reaching the broadest spectrum

MIAMI-DADE COLLEGE OFFERS ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE (AAS)
DEGREE IN NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT
The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree is a two-year degree
that leads to employment. The Business Administration – Non-Profit
Management program of study is designed to prepare students for
employment in the non-profit world. For full program details,

FLORIDA ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE ASSOCIATION (FADAA)
Each year the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association updates
its Membership Guide for the express purpose of bringing people
and needed services together. The FADAA Membership Guide
is utilized by individuals, families and organizations to identify
available substance abuse treatment and prevention services
in communities throughout Florida. It is fully searchable

FLORIDA DIAGNOSTIC AND LEARNING RESOURCES SYSTEM/SOUTH (FDLERS/SOUTH)
The Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS)
provides diagnostic and instructional support services statewide
to exceptional student education programs and families of students
with exceptionalities. FDLRS/South has produced a Community
Resource Guide that includes information and services available
from local, state and national resources for children with disabilities
