Dade Community Foundation is currently accepting proposals for its GLBT Community Projects Fund Initiative.  This program awards grants to support programs or projects that address current and emerging needs related to the GLBT community.  Specific funding priorities are outlined in the Proposal Guidelines which are available on the Foundation’s website: www.dadecommunityfoundation.org. MIAMI NICE (Sub-Awards) GRANTS:  Miami NICE is a unique public/private partnership comprised of the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County, The Children’s Trust, Center on Nonprofit Effectiveness (C-One), The Alliance for Human Services, Family and Children Faith Coalition, and the United Way of Miami-Dade.  The purpose of the Miami NICE Project is to assist small faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs) and non-profit organizations to acquire and develop the skills and tools needed to increase their efficiency; improve their sustainability and effectiveness; prepare them as collaborators; and prepare them to apply for first time federal grants and grants management.

PAY IT FORWARD FOUNDATION MINI-GRANT PROJECT. DEADLINE IS 15th OF EACH MONTH, SEPTEMBER THROUGH JUNE. Project defined as one or more service activities that benefit the youth's school, neighborhood or greater community; and include learning goals for the youth participants. SINGING FOR CHANGE (SFG) - JIMMY BUFFETT'S MARGARITAVILLE SUPPORTING PROGRAMS IN THREE AREAS OF INTEREST: Children and families: programs are concerned with the health, education and protection of children and their families. Projects that foster self-esteem and self-sufficiency and that teach nonviolence and creative problem solving are most likely to be considered. The environment: programs will promote environmental awareness and teach people methods of conservation, protection and the responsible use of natural resources. Disenfranchised groups: SFC defines these groups as people who have been marginalized in society because of their low levels of skill, education or income; people with AIDS, disabillities and homeless people. Projects likely to be considered are those which: 1. help people overcome social or economic barriers to education or employment, 2. promote the empowerment of individuals toward self-sufficiency and provide opportunities for personal growth, and 3. demonstrate human equality and encourage people to cross boundary lines to help others. DEADLINE FOR COMMUNITIES IN NEED. First Data Western Union Foundation The First Data Western Union Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in the United States and selected regions internationally that improve and enhance the lives of individuals, families and communities most in need. In the United States , Colorado , Florida , Nebraska , New York and Texas , where First Data's employees live and work, are the priority funding regions. Outside of the United States , China , India , Mexico Russia and the Ukraine are the priority funding regions. However, grant requests from other states and countries are accepted and will be approved or denied based upon a program's ability to serve extremely needy and vulnerable individuals with very limited avenues of assistance. COCA COLA FOUNDATION: Eligibility: Because the challenges for education are so broad, the Foundation's commitment is multifaceted. It offers support to public and private colleges and universities, elementary and secondary schools, teacher-training programs, educational programs for minority students, and global educational programs. WALGREENS COMPANY CONTRIBUTION PROGRAM. Applications are accepted year-round. This program primarily makes grants to nonprofit organizations in local communities where Walgreens stores are located. Support is provided in the areas of health and human services, education, civic and community, arts and culture. Priority funding areas are health and education, with health as the company's major area of focus. A small portion of the budget is reserved for national organizations selected that focus on medical research and treatment of specific diseases. SUBSTANCE ABUSE EDUCATION: Wal-Mart Foundation grants funds for education on the effects of substance abuse/treatment options. For more information visit http://www.walmartfoundation.org/

SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES: Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund funds community health and welfare projects, including substance abuse services. SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAMS: Hanley Family Foundation wants to promote substance abuse projects including programs that prevent, diagnose or treat chemical dependency. Applicaiton is required and grant candidate's initial approach shoud be made in accordance with application gudelines. There are no deadlines. DRUG ABUSE PROJECTS IN POOR AREAS: Theodore Edson Parker Foundation will fund programs, particularly those aiding minorities and other under-served programs. An application form is not needed, potential applicants are advised to make an initial approach to the foundation by phone call, written proposal or letter. THIRD WAVE FOUNDATION OFFERS SUPPORT TO YOUNG WOMEN ACTIVISTS AND THEIR ORGANIZATIONS. DEADLINE: October 1 and April 1, annually. Direct financial support to young women activists and the organizations they lead, women between the ages of 15 and 30 with an emphasis on low income women, differently abled women, women of color and lesbian/bisexual women.
